dehydrated but happy
Posted by Keiri on February 9th, 2005 filed in UncategorizedI woke up .. yes, 4:45 am, from something scaring the hell out of me. I don’t know what it was, but Jarrod said it was meadow clawing at the bed. When I woke up I realized I felt weird, just like I did this morning. My face felt swollen and conjested, my tongue felt huge, and my eyes hurt. I got up and drank a lot of water. When I sat down to let the water sink in, I realized I tasted blood flowing down my throat. I’ve never had that happen before without a nosebleed. I reluctantly woke Jarrod up and he made me drink water until it stopped. He thought maybe I dried out my tongue until it cracked. And you know, he didn’t bitch about being woken up? He was just worried about me! What a good guy
I woke up feeling like this yesterday, too, but not as severely. I went into work yesterday, determined to be in a good mood despite my craptacular health. I wore my happy Totoro shirt. It really expressed my mood. I got a lot done, and then fernando and rosie (our new volunteer) came back from lunch, and they were just great. I really like them. I ran into one of the judges who was very happy to see me. I left at 6, but I have to go back later today to help with the training again, but also to mail these grants. I got everything else done I needed but something Fernando had to help me with and one small error I made in the numbers. All in all, it was a productive day.
It’s just been insanely beautiful in southern california. I forgot how February truly is our spring. Pomona is horsey and cow-ey, so it has a distinct smell of manure in the air, but GOD.. the mountains, the flowers.. it just seems like someone made everything start to bud and turn bright green overnight! Even the air feels young on my skin. At night the purple jacaranda trees and orange blossom smells are like powdery florals filling the air. WHile driving or in the car with Jarrod I need to roll down the windows just to take it in (and hope to get no skunk smell).

Waking up with the taste of blood doesn’t sound particularly fun. Of course, waking up to anything other than a vacation day isn’t on my list of fun. I like vacations.

Va..ca… what? What is this strange phrase you mention here? Don’t tell me it’s related to that other concept phree thyme I hear people mention every now and then.
Sounds beautiful Kiri. Far more pleasant than the east coast grey doldrums of February.
